FASHION FOR MATURE WOMEN: Fashion Trends F/W 2014-2015

Fashion for Mature women is a topic that fascinates us, especially when we can apply the Fashion Trends F/W 2014-2015 to their needs. It is the best way to close our trilogy of fashion trends for this season, and in AF Moda we are delighted to create this post specifically designed for them!.

Fashion for Mature women has to be something as special and beautiful as them: without making them older, it should reflect their wisdom, their personality and maturity helping to dress all these qualities. In fashion trends F/W 2014-2015, we can find a number of elements, which used wisely by mature women, will allow them to remain elegant and stylish, but with that trendy touch that will make a difference and will make them even more special.

As we have said on other occasions, the mature woman has reached a new welfare state today. We left behind those aged women with a grandmotherly image, and increasingly we see gorgeous mature women with great strength and energy for life, and this is reflected in the way they dress.

Let´s begin by recalling some things we should always take care of when we talk about Fashion for Mature Women:

- Our necklines should be more discreet 

- Our pants must be at the waist, not the hip

- The sleeves should have an appropriate length (depending on the state of our arms sagging)

- Most of all we should wear clothing that outline the silhouette without belting, in order to avoid the imperfections of age remain in evidence. It is important that we avoid tight clothes, show abdomen or tummy and excessively short skirts.

If we want to dress with the fashion trends F/W 2014-2015, the best we can do as mature women, is to take from them only what favors us and what we feel identified with. This season, come some very elegant and sober styles that can take advantage of, as the minimal style, the military style or even the masculine style. FASHION TRENDS F/W 2014-2015: Smart Shopping (Part 3)

Fashion Trends Fall/Winter 2014-2015 remain the focus of our trilogy about smart shopping for the season. In our previous posts, we discussed the 4 key elements of this season's trends (colors, fabrics, prints and apparel logo) and the different styles of women that firms and designers have brought us this Fall/Winter. With the issues we have seen, you can get a general idea of ​​the resources available to us to dress in the coming months.

Once again, to conclude our trilogy Fashion Trends Fall/Winter 2014-2015, we will explore how we can adapt these elements we saw a different female shapes, so that we can take full advantage of our body with all the proposals that fashion offers this season. In AF Moda we believe it's always good to remember all these issues related to morphology and shapes, and contextualize them with the proposals of each season, so, let´s go for it!.

As we always mention in our other trilogies, there is an international image consulting called "Colour me Beautiful" which has defined a set of guidelines in morphology to classify the different types of shapes of women in the world. From their work, there have appeared new consultants and stylists, who use and complement these theories every day, not only in morphology but also in terms of color harmony and many others elements. Thanks to all these experts, we can identify five types of shapes, depending on the proportion between the width of the shoulders and the width of the hips. These shapes are:

- HOURGLASS SHAPE: Shoulder width in proportion to the width of the hips, with a defined waist. It is the ideal silhouette, proportionally compensated.

- TRIANGLE SHAPE: very narrow shoulders and wide hips

- INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE: very wide shoulders and narrow hips

- RECTANCULAR SHAPE: Shoulders in line with hips but without a defined waist

- OVAL SHAPE shoulders, waist and hip rounded, which results in a very sinuous body.

Now let's see how each of the different silhouettes can use the different elements of Fashion Trends Fall / Winter 2014-2015 to make the most of their physical characteristics:

THE HOURGLASS SHAPE:

We can say that this is a silhouette privileged by nature, so it means that any article that it uses, both the top and bottom of the body, will favor it. This body can also use all sorts of fabrics and prints, which means that this Spring-Summer 2014 can play with all the options that we have been discussing in the previous post.

THE TRIANGLE SHAPE:

In this case, we need to harmonize the silhouette volumizing the smooth shoulders and easing off the hips, using at the top garments with structured shoulders, rounded sleeves, body tissues and all kinds of patterns and colors, while at the bottom straight garments (never tight), in dark tones and solid colors, and as far as possible without pleats, ruffles, frills or pockets. As for dresses, they should be straight or with empire waist. This body can also play with colorful accessories so that deviate attention to the face and not towards the hips, which is what we want to conceal. It is also advisable to always carry a little heel, to gain slenderness.

THE INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE:

Here we seek to soften the shoulders and give volume to the hips to harmonize the silhouette. To do this, we will use at the tops garments with unstructured shoulders and all kinds of sleeves, avoiding the shoulder pads and linear jackets; also will use tissues with little body and weight, and also will try to rather small prints and harmonic colors; for the bottom, we will use rounded garments that allow us to give volume and amplitude at the hip, being allowed the use of pleats, ruffles, decorations, etc.. We must avoid the straight and very tight clothes. We can use fabrics with body, volume and thickness at the bottom, in addition to all kinds of patterns and color contrasts.

THE RECTANGULAR SHAPE:

With this silhouette, the objective is to smooth the rightness of their lines and define the waist, to get as close as possible to the perfect hourglass silhouette. We will achieve this by using on the top of the body garments with unstructured shoulder and sinuous lines, avoiding thick and stiff fabrics, and specially marking the waist either through the cut of the garment or belts of all kinds, and also avoiding bright colors or prints with color contrast; for the bottom, we will choose any type of garment with sinusoidal shape to the hips, using fabrics with drop and weight.

THE OVAL SHAPE:

This silhouette is very curvy, so it is necessary to structure and give it slenderness. To do this, at the top we will use structured shoulders and vertical lines, avoiding curved lines, also,  tissues should be fine, with weight and fall, and in harmonic colors, with no contrasts. For the bottom, straight clothes are recommended, with linear forms, with fabrics that have fall and weight, with small prints and in color harmony.

Once again we see that no matter what figure we have, the important thing is knowing how to choose the clothes and accessories that in one hand fit better with our physiognomy, and in the other best represent our personality and style. First of all we should feel beautiful and comfortable with our image. Fashion offers endless possibilities in varied qualities and prices, so we can be dressed during the season without get broke trying to do it. It's all about observing the stores, so that buying seasonal trends becomes a pleasant experience, and we can also do it properly.

As we always say, we can be the woman we want to be, and transmit it to the world through our image, showing all the wonders we have inside. Recall that, for better or worse, the first image is what counts, and worth more than thousand words; we must do everything in our power to project the best image of ourselves, clothing ourselves with common sense and judgment every season.

FASHION TRENDS F/W 2014-2015: Smart Shopping (Part 2)

Fashion Trends Fall/ Winter 2014-2015 were the subject of our post last week. On it we talked about the four key elements to take into account to consider when we buy fashionable clothes every season: the colors, patterns, fabrics and key pieces. Now we will investigate the ways in which we can combine these seasonal fashion garments, resulting in different styles for women.

But first, as always in our trilogy, we must understand what we are talking about: when it comes to style, we refer to the image we project in terms of how we dress and behave. Each season, designers mix clothing in different ways, proposing different "styles" of women, which somehow also become trends to imitate fashionable consumers.

Being aware of the different styles of each season is essential to know how to use fashion trends, and as we always suggest in AF Moda, we must study in detail these styles, choosing that or those with whom we feel more identified, adapting our wardrobe, our possibilities and our personal taste and our economic potential to it. As we always say, in this fashion "not everything is for everyone," and as consumers of fashion must be fully aware of it in order to handle it in our favor.

That said, let´s analyze briefly the styles that will be clue in these Fashion Trends Fall/ Winter 2014-2015:

MILITARY STYLE:

A repeated style of cold weather, which makes an interpretation of the dress of the soldiers and militia "in fashion code". In this style we can highlight the aviator jackets, coats and upper garments mimicking the button fastening and cuts of military suits, khakis and green colors, high boots, military print and gold details. A style for determined and strong women, who want to show power without losing their femininity.

FOLK STYLE:

It is characterized by its bohemian and ethnic mood, featuring lightweight fabrics, long skirts, furs, variety of boots, the ethnic or tribal prints, and leather accessories. It is a style for women of free spirit, which connect to the various cultures of the world and want to communicate it on their dress.

MASCULIN STYLE: 

Another style that always comes in cold weather, which seeks to "feminize" the cut and the clothes of the men. We can highlight the large or "oversize" coats, double breasted also, the straight pants, neutral dresses, borsalin hat, the blazer, the pumps and also the slippers. In a world dominated by men, this style is for functional women with a strong character, but who never lose their femininity.

60'S STYLE:

A style that evokes rebellion and style of that time, imitating its retro air. It is a style wherein contrast are important, for example acid colors and hounds tooth print, very short skirts imitating  Mary Quant and pencil skirts to the knee, flats and high boots, dresses with geometric shapes, retro air shoes with width heel, short coats and op art or geometric patterns, as well as details on vinyl or plastic. It is a nostalgic style that mixes innocence and mischief, with a nod to retro.

MINIMALIST STYLE:

As its name suggests, is a style where the dress is brought to a minimum expression, avoiding the trimmings. It is sober, refined and crisp. We can highlight the restrained and austere garments in blocks of one color, and the clean and loose cuts. It has some remembrance to the fashion of the nineties. It is a functional style for women seeking absolute neutrality in their dress, and making of this a form of expression.

ASPEN STYLE:

It is inspired by the world of skiing, taking from it garments chunky knit, trench coats belted at the waist, ponchos, fretwork prints, mountaineering boots, the knitted caps, and generally the combination of several layers of clothing. It is a sporty air style, but without losing its point of glamor. It will help to combine it with basic neutral clothes so you will not look overdone.

FANTASY STYLE:

It is a style that is inspired by the world of fairies, nymphs and princesses, taking their romantic and sublime air and transmitting it in sheer dresses, dream embroidery, floral prints, delicate accessories, use of lace and transparencies, and all the visual universe of nature and butterflies. A style totally for princesses of the XXI century!

SPORTY STYLE:

This style has become recurrent in recent seasons, making reference to sports clothes, but taking it to the field of fashion. Notable are the high-waisted trousers, sport shirts, baseball jackets, the pleated skirts, the skaters shoes, satin sweaters, mini shorts, headphones and sneakers in all its variations. A style for energetic and active women, who have a fitness but glamorous spirit.

The wonderful thing about fashion is that always offers us many opportunities to be the "Woman/Style" we want to be, depending on our personality, the occasion, the place we go and our physical type. In magazines and fashion blogs, you will find during all these months many proposals relating to combine the Fashion Trends Fall/ Winter 2014-2015, with many tips and advice to dress in these styles. Estrenamos el otoño, y en AF Moda estamos felices con este cambio de estación. Se acabó el veranito y ya  los escaparates de las tiendas se llenan de abrigos, chaquetas, colores oscuros y prendas nuevas, anunciando las tendencias que vendrán para la próxima temporada.  Y en consecuencia, como ya es tradición en AF Moda, comenzamos nuestra trilogía de posts de “Compras Inteligentes de Tendencias Otoño/Invierno 2014-2015”. 

Lo llamamos Compras Inteligentes porque en esta trilogía de posts aconsejamos a nuestras lectoras con tips sencillos y racionales para adquirir, siempre dentro de sus posibilidades, las prendas y complementos idóneos al estilo, personalidad y fisionomía de cada quien.
